The Douglas County Youth In Governance Program (YIG) offers opportunities for youth leadership development and youth empowerment in Douglas County through direct participation in county government decision-making; provides real-life learning opportunities for youth in the functioning of local government; and brings a direct youth voice to community issues and concerns while fostering the development of confident, capable and independent leaders for the next generation.

Open to any youth in Douglas County in grades 10th-12th grade at time of application. Youth will serve as youth representatives on the Douglas County Board and attend Douglas County Board meetings from October 19, 2023-August 2024. Interested youth must complete an application and submit a reference form, and go through an interview process prior to being selected.
