QPR teaches three simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide: Question, Persuade, and Refer. Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year, QPR Gatekeepers are trained to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and to respond in order to save a life. Gatekeepers can be anyone who is positioned to recognize and refer someone at risk of suicide (e.g., parents, friends, neighbors, teachers, coaches, dance team leaders, co-workers, barbers, bartenders, etc.)
Our first two sessions will be for youth-serving audiences, offered virtually on Dec. 12th, 2022 from 12:00 pm-1:30 pm and again from 5:30 pm-7:00 pm. We’ll also be offering two adult Gatekeeper classes on Tuesday, Jan. 3rd, 2023 from 12:00 pm-1:30 pm and 5:30 pm-7:00 pm. Additional sessions will be added for both adult and youth serving audiences. You can register for any session at https://go.wisc.edu/368q85. Extension is seeking organizations to sign up their group for a 90 minute in-person or virtual class.
